Alma can certainly be knitted in the standard length as well. We offer instructions for the classic version.

ALMA is knitted seamlessly from the top down. Only the pocket bags need to be sewn on at the end. It starts with a provisional cast-on for the front panels, which are knitted in [1 right, 1 left] rib pattern. The stitches for the back and raglan sleeves are picked up from the panels. The back and sleeves are knitted in garter stitch until the sleeves are sectioned off.

Then the front panel stitches are picked up from the front sleeve sides and knitted together with the back panel stitches. This creates a diagonal front panel line. To compensate for the different stitch samples of the garter stitch-knitted body part and the panels in the rib pattern, short rows are worked that repeat regularly. The small pockets are knitted into both fronts.

Needles: 2 circular needles and DPNS (or magic loop), US6 (4.0 mm), or needle size required to obtain gauge, 1 circular needle US4 (3,5 mm) for hem and cuffs.

Gauge: 20 sts x 30 rows for 4 inch (10 cm) in stockinette stitch with larger needle size, gauge swatch washed.

Tools: Stitch markers, open stithc markers, tapestry needle, stitch holders or waste yarn.
