A cardigan knitted with the contiguous technique just hits different. It grows in one smooth, continuous flow from the top down, like it knows exactly where it’s going. No awkward seams, no stiff structure, just clean lines and a fit that feels almost custom-made.
The Cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down. The yoke is shaped uses Susie Myers’ Contiguous method for creating set-in sleeves. Once the yoke shaping is complete, the sleeve stitches are placed on hold and the underarm stitches are cast on using your preferred method. The body is then worked back and forth to the ribbing, with instructions for optional pockets included. The button bands and neck finishing are worked next. Finally, the sleeve stitches are returned to the needles and the sleeves are worked in the round from the top down to the cuffs.
We have two different versions for the sleeves: the classic, tapered sleeves and an additional one that leaves the sleeves a little wider and has a longer cuff.
In addition, instructions for A-line shaping and inset pockets are included.
All measurements given refer to the finished washed sweater. No body measurements! For a loose fit sizes are calculated with 6 % positive ease. We recommend comparing the measurements with a favorite sweater to achieve the best fit.
On 105 pages, we offer instructions for 15 sizes for chest width from 34 in to 64 in ( 86 cm to 162 cm).
and for 13 different types of yarn, for the following stitch samples:
- 12 sts x18 rows,
- 14 sts x 24 rows,
- 15 sts x 22 rows,
- 16 sts x 24 rows
- 17 sts x 25 rows
- 18 sts x 27 rows
- 19 sts x 28 rows
- 20 sts x 30 rows
- 21 sts x 31 rows
- 22 sts x 33 rows
- 23 sts x 35 rows

At the same time, the design offers a platform for playing with a wide variety of materials. Every yarn made of wool, silk, cotton or even linen will give it a completely unique character. The design is suitable for cozy winter cardigans, as well as for summer cardis with short sleeves.
At the end of the e-book, we have compiled yarn suggestions from our Soul Wool shop. There, you will find the perfect yarn quality for each version.
